Mount Airy Casino Resort in the Poconos

Before our weekend get-away to the Mount Airy Casino Resort  in the Poconos, my boyfriend and I wanted to find the perfect place that had plenty of entertaining activities to do inside (the temp. was in the low 20’s all weekend and there was no snow for outdoor activities!), as well as a place to do some relaxing and recharge our batteries before the chaos that is NYFW!

If you’re looking for a good NYC weekend-get-a-away, this is the perfect spot! The drive was a little over 2 hours (with some traffic). I spent plenty of time researching the perfect place that would offer everything we were looking for when I stumbled upon this resort. My first attraction to it was the fact that it had so many rave reviews (average is a 4.4/5 on any travel site!). They are also one of two properties in Pennsylvania awarded as a AAA 4 Diamond Casino Resort! I’m super picky about reviews and overall cleanliness of the room and facilities. Most resorts in the Poconos are very outdated and haven’t been updated in years. Although it’s part of the charm, it’s really nice when you find a place that’s so modern and well taken care of.

The Resort is the former Mount Airy Lodge, which was torn down and re-opened for 9 years now as The Mount Airy Casino Resort . You can tell the second that you walk through the door how up-to-date and modern the facilities are! There is this warm ambiance and uniqueness that naturally accentuates the beauty and serene setting of the Pocono Mountains. When you enter the lobby there’s a large beautiful chandelier and two seating areas along with a decorated fountain that was a hot spot for many tourists to take photos at and relax in the peaceful setting.

Our room was so cozy, incredibly clean (one of those things I always am looking out for!) as well as super up-to-date decor. Each room came with a keurig in it, this is something that you don’t always find in resorts or hotels, which was a really pleasant  thing, you know what I mean if you’re a fellow coffee drinker! I loved how cozy our room was. It was so quiet and peaceful despite the hustle and bustle that you find in the lobby/gaming floor of the casino. If you are someone who likes to take a little break to relax, there’s an excellent in-room dining menu and the service was wonderful. I have found myself waiting an hour plus for items to arrive in my experience, we were definitely excited about how quick the service was here. It was so nice to wake up to breakfast in bed with the sun peeking through the curtains and drinking my coffee looking out to the gorgeous golf course views! We enjoyed a delicious breakfast, I ordered the Texas french toast and mixed fresh fruit (my favorite!) and my boyfriend had a sausage omelet which also smelled amazing!

After our breakfast, I made my way to the spa, which was absolutely beautiful and relaxing I might add! I was totally looking to relax on this trip, and the peaceful tranquil vibe of the spa area made that possible, I think I actually fell asleep a few times, LOL. There was plenty of staff around if you had questions/needed anything. Everyone was extremely polite and willing to help out. I had a 1 hour ‘Signature Massage’ with Ashley. She was great in accommodating the types of essential oils and type of cream that I wanted-if you regularly get massages you know your preference and it’s nice to have a place with several options that work for you! There’s also the cutest salon here which would be a perfect spot if you’re on a bachelorette weekend!

Let’s talk about the food here.. there’s no lack of options here whatsoever. For any type of eater or appetite, there’s a place for you. There is a large buffet open for both lunch and dinner, a noodle and sushi spot, an upscale eatery, a fun casual restaurant as well as Red Mango and Starbucks on-site. There was not one thing I ate that I didn’t enjoy! My favorite was Bistecca by Il Mulino. Absolutely fantastic service and the food was incredible. I ordered haddock in a lemon sauce with asparagus on the side. It was so fresh and delicious! Definitely on the pricer side, but it is totally worth the treat, especially when you’re on vacation or a getaway! We also ate at Guy Fieri’s Pocono Grill, again, the food was fantastic! You receive large portions and if you know Guy, there’s always some neat menu items/ presentation of the items that’s always fun.

The Mount Airy Casino Resort is also a great place to visit in the spring/ summertime. There is plenty to do for outdoor-enthusiasts and those who want to stay indoors as well. There is a beautiful golf course view from the hotel (it was so amazing to wake up to every morning :)) I kept saying, ‘I bet this place is gorgeous in the summer!’ I was lucky to get a tour with Cassandra, the Entertainment Coordinator, she was amazing and gave me so much information about the property. There’s a beautiful gazebo outside for weddings, tons of floor space inside and the most amazing pool area! The pool is both indoors and outdoors, in the summer you can swim under the barrier to the outside portion- it is very unique and definitely looks like you’re at a resort in the tropics, equipped with waterfalls, cabanas and a poolside bar.

We also attended the night club, Gypsies Lounge, and saw a couple of comedy acts including Arsenio Hall. We had so much fun! Again, the facilities did not disappoint! After the comedy show, the space becomes a night club.

We had such an amazing stay, and I’m excited to go back again in the spring to experience the resort at that time of the year! A couple of little tips for your travel that I’d like to leave you with to make your stay that much more enjoyable: Make sure that you have a valid ID present. My boyfriend just celebrated his birthday and did not have an up-to-date license. Because his license was expired, we ended up needing an escort to bring us everywhere we went in the casino. If you are under the age of 21- you always will need an escort when walking on the casino floor. It is very hard to avoid the casino as all of the restaurants and nightclub are located on this floor.
